Frequently Asked Questions
Support Coordination is a funded service under the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) that helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with the right providers, and build capacity to manage supports over time.
At PMAbility, our support coordinators:
- Work closely with you to interpret your plan goals and funded supports.
- Identify and connect you with trusted providers who match your needs.
- Monitor progress and adapt strategies to help you maximise your plan.
Our aim: to ensure you’re not just compliant, but empowered.
Plan Management is a service where a provider manages the financial administration of your NDIS plan — paying invoices, tracking budgets, providing statements — giving you greater choice, control and reduced administrative burden.
By choosing PMAbility for plan management, you benefit from:
- Transparent, timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Clear budget oversight and monthly statements showing spend vs. remaining funds.
- Freedom to access both registered and non-registered providers (where applicable) without extra cost.
Our promise: professional financial handling so you can focus on your goals.
Yes — many participants find that the combination of both services gives them full support: one to guide the service-delivery side (Support Coordination) and one to manage the financial side (Plan Management).
At PMAbility we integrate both services seamlessly so you get holistic care: your supports are aligned and your funds are managed wisely.
Whilst the NDIS is concerned that this can be a conflict of interest, we have documented procedures that have been approved by our auditors to ensure this is handled in the most professional manner.
The NDIA defines three support coordination levels: 1) Support Connection — building links with informal, community and funded supports. 2) Coordination of Supports — assisting with implementing your plan and building your skills. 3) Specialist Support Coordination — for complex situations requiring intensive assistance.
Your eligibility is determined by the complexity of your support needs and is stated on your plan. At PMAbility we review your plan with you and recommend the correct level, ensuring the best fit. If you require Soecialist Support Coordination we will usually connect you with a specialist provider.
While each provider’s processing may vary, the NDIA guidance states that once a plan manager submits a claim, payment to the provider should occur promptly (within a couple of business days after confirmation).
At PMAbility we aim for efficient turnaround, clear communication with you and providers, and avoid delays so your supports remain uninterrupted.
It’s important to stay informed about your budget and funding periods. Plan Managers should alert you when budgets are nearing exhaustion, so together we can review your strategy and adjust supports if required.
PMAbility proactively provides budget statements, flags concerns early, and works with you to ensure your plan remains on track — so your outcomes aren’t compromised.
Yes — you have choice and control. If you wish to change providers, you can do so. For Plan Management, you simply notify the NDIA and your new provider. For Support Coordination, your service agreement will outline the terms of handover and continuity of services.
At PMAbility we will ensure a smooth transitions and minimal disruption if you choose to switch. But we do always appreciate feedback to continuously improve our service.
Both support coordination and plan management are classified as “intermediary supports” under the NDIA, and must adhere to quality and safeguarding standards.
At PMAbility we maintain robust governance: clear service agreements, regular reviews, transparent reporting and continuous improvement — so you’re receiving supports you can trust.
With PMAbility you get more than a service — you get a partner. Our key differentiators:
- Combined expertise in both support coordination and plan management (so you don’t need separate providers).
